It's OK to not be OK
Grief is hard.
As the second anniversary of my mother’s death approached (it's today) I kept reminding myself of a lesson I learned in the past two years: it is completely and utterly OK to not be OK. So I wrote this for you. All of you who have felt the loss of a parent, loved one, or friend, and might need a reminder that wherever you are at is OK.
Grief is not linear.
Grief is not kind.
Grief sneaks up innocuously, then sucker punches you in the gut.
Grief is a reminder that the love you felt for a person was so deep that their loss changed you.
How do you manage?
You never get “better”.
You navigate your new normal.
You merely continue to move forward, and honor them the best you can.
